I really hate chrome bacause consumes so much RAM and for me i'ts very basic, with nothing that inovate and nothing relevant. I use Opera and for me is much better.

I use Firefox (with many privacy extensions such as NoScript and uBlock, plus Decentraleyes and Privacy Badger and etc.) as much as possible, but if safari is available I’ll use that. I do use Chrome, but try not to as much as possible.

Chrome should have a "few" more settings. Like: Stacked tabs (just love them). Settings so I can decide if unwatched tabs shall just be a keeper of the URL and load the page when watching (with 1000/1000Mbit/s at 2ms keeping data locally is not always needed). Settings so I can decide if a tab should still be updating in the background or not, sometimes it is convinient.

I recommend a chrome extension called 'The Great Suspender' which (as it says in the title) suspends the tabs you're not using. Ram useage dropped from 5 gigabytes to around 1.5 gigabytes after using it

If you don't open 40 tabs in a row and forget to close them when you're done with it, chrome doesn't use ram at all. I am able to listen songs from youtube, and have 5 another tabs on background while playing a game and my ram usage never went above 7. If you only have 8 gigs though yeah you'll struggle.

And Google wonders why people are using other browsers to watch You-Tube.

I don't get it. Everyone's crying about how Chrome is an enormous RAM hog. For me, the maximum amount of RAM I've ever seen used by Chrome is about 2.5 gigs, and that's with heavy usage, and I mean HEAVY, multiple windows, gazillion of tabs and a Spotify online player which got lost in all the tab chaos. On a usual day for me Chrome uses 700MB up to a maximum of 1200MB RAM. What gives? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've used Firefox for well over a decade. I tried Chrome but compared to Firefox it sucks. I've heard lots of people whining about Chrome but they still use it. I install Firefox on their systems and they're like "Why didn't I think of that?" to which I reply "Because you're a dumbass!"

I bought a 4 GB Mac Mini with soldered ram and ran it for a few years. When I needed more ram I bought a $500CAD i7 gaming PC used for $500CAD with 16 GB DDR3 Ram and made it a Hackintosh and it ran well for 2 years. I was stuck on High Sierra because my Nvidia card was incompatible. Waited and this year bought a new $90CAD Nvidia "Metal" card 2 GB. Ram was hitting a wall, so rather than upgrade to a new Mac or new Hackintosh saw that DDR5 is coming out soon with Apple and Silicon ARM. Decided this year to spend $300CAD buying 32 GB DDR3 ram. I'm spending about $250CAD a year and keeping up to date with a relatively powerful machine.
