Nostalgia! I've managed my own network cafe for 15 years and formatted my PC and done all these setups thousands of time. Though I am out of all these for a long time, I am quite sure my muscle memory is intact.

1:31 I like this one. But allow me to explain exactly why. The thing is that in order to share files via the Homegroup, both you and your partner (or the person you're sharing media with) *must* have the *exact same* version of windows for you to even be discovered, and worst of all, even if you were discovered, the transfers were ultimately slow and there was no limit to allowing your partner(s) into your public documents.

I can't understand why Windows still asks this question on my Desktop PC which never leaves my house. It should know that it's a desktop.

I've no problem with whether or not I want my computer visible on our network at all. What I have a problem with is why, all of a sudden, my NAS has disappeared from the 'Network' view. I go to 'This PC' on my desktop, select the 'Network' option in the navigation window and I see nothing. Up until a cuple of days ago, when I selected 'Network', the window would open and at the top I would see a section 'Media Devices' and in there would be my wife's laptop, our printer, sometimes my phone and my computer. Now I see nothing. Where's it all gone. I can get into the NAS via a shortcut I created to a folder a year or so ago but nothing shows up as part of the network. Has anyone any ideas?

The one thing this video didn't say is that windows has a "Nearby Share" feature that allows you to share files with nearby Windows machines, and it gets a considerable speed increase when you click "Yes" to that question, since it can run over WiFi instead of Bluetooth.

You know, i'm more curious about why windows keeps thinking i have changed something on my router and making me re-enter my password. every couple days it happens. I have actually memorized the random string of letters and numbers that makes up my wifi password.(and yes i checked nothing had actually changed, not even a software update on the router)

Peinter ink is expensive though! It's where mainstream printer companies make their money. They can probably sell the hardware at a loss given how much they push automatic ink sales. My first printer literally cost the same as one ink refill for it, black + color!
